Biography
Mary, daughter of Thomas Collis & Eliza, was born on 19 January 1857 and baptised on 15 February 1857 in Great Bowden, Leicestershire, England.[1] Her birth is registered in the district of Market Harborough, Leicestershire, England.
As a 3.5-year-old Mary R Collis accompanied her mother, Eliza Collis and her brother Thomas aboard the ship Merlin, sailing from England to Victoria Australia as an assisted passenger. They were joining their father Thomas Haynes Collis who was already in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. The Merlin ship arrived in Melbourne October 1860 (around the 7th to 11th).
Mary Roseina Colliss married Edward Cowell the 22 Oct 1877 in Rosedale, Victoria, Australia and they had 6 children. Mary's marriage to Edward Cowell was registered in 1877 in Victoria, Australia.[2]
