Biography
Abraham married first Martha Tyler, daughter of William & Mary (Lothrop) Tyler, on 4 Oct 1721 at Wallingford, New Haven, CT - parents of Mary, Lydia, Samuel, Rufus, Keziah, Hannah, Reuben & Abraham II
After the death of Martha he married Margery Gillett, daughter of Abraham & Rebecca (Unknown) Gillett in Oct 1742 - their children were Elizabeth & Rebecca
Cautionary Note: Vital data appear to be commensurate with life events and places of residence of Abraham II, subject of this profile; however, additional research is needed to confirm that the Abraham Clark who lived in Boston is the same Abraham Clark who was of Dover and/or Barrington, New Hampshire.
This Abraham, subject of this profile, was born likely in Dover, N.H.
Abraham married 1st Ann Jones on November 2, 1710 in Boston after filing their marriage intention on October 13, 1710. They were married by Dr. Cotton Mather, Presbyterian. They continued to reside in Boston. At least two children were born to them and recorded in Boston records, namely Abraham (1) b. on May 19, 1712 and Samuel b. January 21, 1713. Son Abraham (1) died on August 2, 1713; and two days later wife Ann died, i.e. August 4, 1713. This data were provided per "Old Sextons Bills."
Abraham married 2nd Anna Canney sometime between August 4, 1713 and early 1716. They appeared to live in Boston where they had three children, namely Abraham (2) b. December 24, 1716; Anne b. July 6, 1718; and Elizabeth b. March 7, 1719. Elizabeth, as far as is known, was the last recorded birth of Abraham and Anne in Boston. Note: Another "child" of Abraham died on September 25, 1718 per Old Sextons Bills, but it is unknown the name or gender of this deceased child.
Two additional children of Abraham and Anna (aka Annah) were recorded in the vital records of Dover, New Hampshire: "Love" b. May 30, 1721; and "Annah" b. July 2, 1723. A 3rd daughter, Mary, also born to them, was baptized on January 17, 1742.
Given recorded birth dates of their children, it is apparent that sometime between March 7, 1719 and May 30, 1721, Abraham and Anne (aka Anna, Annah) removed from Boston to Dover, New Hampshire.
On January 17, 1742, "Anna, Wife of Abraham Clark, and their Children, Anna & Mary, were baptized in Dover, New Hampshire, by Rev. Jonathan Cushing."
In the "Early Settlements of Dover, N.H." (p. 161), quoting: "81y [81 yays] voated [sic] that the distance is as followeth [sic] for the suruaiers [sic] to keep in Repair: ye Inhabitants of Dover Neck from Hiltons Poynt [sic] to Abraham Clark [emphasis added] his house; ye Inhabitants of ye northside of Oyster River, from Oyster River Falls to Lamprill Rover falls: Cochecha, from Cochecha to Salmon Falls." This note in Dover's town records of April 22, 1706 would appear to be that of this Abraham's father, i.e. Abraham I; however, given the lineage of Abraham/s in this family, chances of conflation are abound.
