Choate-1739 and Choate-1316 appear to represent the same person because: Even though this merge has been rejected in the past, it is definitely the same person. There is no evidence that Richard Choate had two sons named Edward. There is also no evidence of Richard's wife's surname, and it has been recorded as both Pyburn and Anderson in various family trees. A merge of the two Nancys has also been requested.
In 1778 Richard Choate and four of his sons are listed as having the following land near William Bean in Tennessee:

Richard, age 56, 391 acres Austin, age 36, 234 acres Edward, age 34, 523 acres Thomas, age 31, 1280 acres Christopher, age 28, 209 acres Benjamin, age 23, 100 acres
