Granny Burns, my mother's grandmother, was so loved by all who knew her. Her granddaughters and great-granddaughters all wanted to be known as "Granny" when they had grandchildren.
On one of the times the Franklin Pierce Burns Family had to move so Franklin could find work was one time when they moved to Texas. Rachel was out hanging the wash and a stranger on horseback came riding up to her. He said a few words and Rachel gave him some clothes out of the clean laundry and a blanket.
As the man was riding off, Franklin came out he asked her who was she talking to? She replied, Sam Bass. Then, he asked her why she helped him, he was a bad man. She said, he's family. Your Grandfather had married Rachel Bass and he, himself, was raised by Sallie Bass.
