Biography

Elener Brown was the wife of Lieutenant Governor William West. Attempts to locate her parentage are difficult due to the fact that there were nine different families, named Brown, residing in North Kingston at that time.[1]

They moved from Kingston to Scituate, where, in 1775, William built a large house for his wife and family to live in.[1]

William and Elener had children, whose births have not been noted, but presumably occurred in North Kingston or Scituate, Rhode Island.[2]

Three rough stones mark the sight of her burial, on the Scituate land that once belonged to her husband. It is designated on Find a Grave as the Colonel William West Lot, Scituate, Providence County, Rhode Island, USA[1]
