After the war ended, he was drafted to attend internment camp where he worked as prison guard of German POWs in Wainwright, AB and was released from Army duty in 1945. On November 28, 1944 Lorraine Selena "Margaret" Hamm married him at the United Church Manse in Nipawin, SK, attended only by her parents and her mother's friend Anna Harder. Peter owned a farm at Teddington, SK and later bought one at Clearwater, BC with 24 acres at Blackpool, mostly mountainside, with lots of animals and fowl and also purchased small 2 bedroom house in town across from Lorraine's cousin. He worked as a millwright at Clearwater Timber Products as well in addition to farming, which he continued to do until he was 78 years of age. He was strong and handsome with a straight sharp nose, long legs and big hands. Peter and Lorraine lived at Clearwater, B.C. and had five daughters and two sons between 1946 and 1968. Eventually Peter left his family and went to live on his own. He spent time in Drayton Valley, AB and winters in Mexico. On June 1, 1999 Peter passed away as a result of a traffic accident at Rocky Mountain House, AB. He was cremated and his cremated remains were returned to Lost River district, SK in August 2002.
