Red Deer Man Dies of Injuries
Red Deer, Oct. 9--Earl Bell, 57, C.P.R. express man, died in hospital here early this morning shortly after being crushed at 6:15 against the side of a refridgerator car by a truck which was to be unloaded. The vehicle, driven by the baggage foreman, suddenly backed up, pinning Mr. Bell against a ledge as he was opening the door of the car.
Formerly a homesteader of the Raven district and a veteran of the First Great War, Mr. Bell came to Red Deer in 1938, where he worked before joining up with the Calgary Tanks. At the end of hostilities he was a storeman until last July when he joined the local express department.
In addition to his wife and father, Thomas Bell in Edmonton, those surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Ray Slater of Red Deer, Joyce and Jean, both working in the Okanagen Valley.
