Bengt was born on January 9, 1869, at Baggerud, and was baptized the next day at Dalby. He was the son of Anders Bengtsson and Johanna Jönsdotter. He left Dalby with his brother Anders on July 13, 1900. He immediately homesteaded in Sinclair Township, Clearwater County, Minnesota. He lived at a large 280-acre farm in sections 28 and 29 and had the first frame house in the township. He married Ruth Swanson on November 2, 1912. He passed away on April 15, 1919, and was buried in Sinclair Cemetery.
