Biography

Winslow Ames was born on 21 October 1762 in Lewiston, Maine. His parents were James Ames and Elizabeth (Hall) Ames^[1].

He married Margaret Nichols on 10 July 1788. They had eleven children^[2]:

1. Samuel, born 11 May 1789; married Mary Benjamin
2. James, born 4 May 1790; married Margaret Randall
3. Francis, born 2 Aug 1791
4. Hannah, born 29 Apr 1793; married Jesse Burbank Freeman
5. Ruth, born 1 Feb 1796; married Levi Gould
6. Betsey, born 18 Jun 1797; married Mark Maine
7. Jane, born 26 Feb 1799; married Mark Garcelon
8. Jean, born 26 Feb 1799; died young
9. William, born 23 Nov 1800; married J. Hannah Cooper
10. John, born May 1805; died young

Margaret passed away in 1805, and Winslow married Betsey Litchfield on 13 August 1805. They had two children:^[2]

Winslow passed away on 8 October 1851 in Lewiston.^[2]
