"The Human Family," by Maya Angelou, is a wonderful poem about how our similarities are more important than our differences. If you haven't seen the beautiful montage using this poem created by Apple for their latest IPhone commercial, check it out: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztMfBZvZF_Y] After you've heard the poet read, you come away with a spiritual sense of how we're all connected. In our genealogy work, this is something we all know logically, but this rendition of her poem helps us experience it viscerally.

A good thing to keep in mind during the latest election season: "We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike."

It took me three or four times through the commercial to realize that in was the voice of Maya, Could just me me missing it, but perhaps the credit could have been more prominent. Copyrighted, the poem , at least I would guess.

I can see that. I've heard her interviews with Oprah, seen her with Elie Wiezel, and used her in class with students, so I knew it was her right away. (But I had forgotten about this little poem, never really impressed with it before now. Context is everything sometimes.)
It is a grand poem and the pictures that iPhone uses make you proud to be...human.
