This is my Great-Great Grandfather on my Dad's side. My Dad is still alive, but is 97.  He said he did not know much about him or his family.  It is said that the family moved west from either the Carolina's or Georgia to southern Texas.  It is said Jesse was born in Texas and that is where he married Emma Haws (1857 - 1908).  I know they lived in Jacksonville, Cherokee, Texas and Precinct 3, Cherokee, Texas.  When the Depression started they left Texas and moved to Shreveport, Louisiana where they lived out the rest of their lives.  Their son Albert Carol (1878 - 1951) was my Great-Grandfather.

Update:  I am trying to go through the 1860 Federal Census.  But it is very slow going.  I have seen two different birth dates for Jesse... 1853 and 1855.  So he would not appear on the 1850 Census, but would be 7 or  5 respectively on the 1860 one.   It is very slow going.  Please let me know if you Riley guys see anything in your travels.
