George was born about 1923. He is the son of George Young and Hannah Charnock.
George was in the Merchant Marine in WW2 serving on the SS Tacoma Star. U-109 caught her north-northeast of Bermuda on February 1st 1942 (German time). Bleichrodt observed that he and his men “Sighted 5 illuminated lifeboats on port side abeam." not a single soul from the sad waterborne cavalcade of men were ever seen again.
