Biography

Edwin Wilburn was born in Yorkshire, England.

Edwin was born before 1831. He was the son of John Wilburn and Ann Silvester, and was Christened on 27 March 1831 in Hatfield, ^{[1] [2]} and in 1841 ^[3] the family were living in Stainforth, where his father worked as an Agricultural labourer.

In 1852 ^[4] he married Ann Hastings, likely in Hatfield. Edwin, like his older brothers became a sailor, likely on the inland waterways and in 1861 ^[5] he is the Master, aboard the ship 'Anns' which is a river keel, along with his wife Ann and their two sons Charles 7, and Henry 5. In 1871 ^[6] the family are living in Moreheads Building, Hull. Edwin is now a Coal Merchant, whether he is still transporting coal by waterways is not known.

His wife Ann died in 1878 and on 28 April 1880 he married Emma Holmes, at St. George, Doncaster. ^[7] In 1881 ^[8] they are living in Hull. Emma's mother Fanny is also living with the family. Edwin and Emma had one son Edwin born 1881, however Emma died in 1887 and by 1891 ^[9] he is a Widower again, and living in Sculcoates, part of Hull.

He passed away there in 1899, age 67. ^[10] Probate was awarded on 7 April 1899 ^[11] to sons Frederick and Henry. Date of death given as 15 January 1899. Address given as 24 Louie Street, Kingston upon Hull.
