Susan, "Susie," was born in Newnan, Georgia, on May 15, 1860, to Dr. Abner Render Wellborn and Georgia Ann Ray.[1][2][3] She married John Blackmar son of A.O. Blackmar, Jr., and Mary Ann Blood of Columbus, Georgia, on January 16, 1884.[4] They had five known children:[5][6]
1884-1944: Alfred Owen, m. Mary Gordon, 1910
1887-1943: Dr. Ray Wellborn, m. Elizabeth Ostrander, 1921
1890-1917: John Brainerd, never married
1895-1981: Susie, m. John Tyler Ellis, 1918
1897-1977: Francis Burton, m. Isabella Lyman, 1923
Susie and John traveled, but lived in Columbus, Georgia, their whole lives.[7][8][9][10] He died on March 25, 1931, of a stroke.[11] Susie lived another ten years, passing on October 19, 1941, of pneumonia and tuberculosis.[12] They are buried together at Linwood Cemetery in Columbus.[13]
