Biography

George served in 4th AL Cav. CSA. He moved in 1869 to Texas, in 1880 in Hill county, TX, later at Nocona, TX, in 1900 living at Duke, Oklahoma, in 1920 at Carter, Oklahoma.

Obit. Mr. G. W. Wellborn, of Carter, died at Elk City at the hospital on Tuesday morning of this week. Mr. Wellborn had been carried to the hospital only the day before his death in the hopes that something could be done to relieve him but his condition was so grave that he just continued growing worse until early Tuesday morning when he passed away.

Grandpa Wellborn, as he was known in Carter, had been in very bad health for a number of years and also had the sad misfortune of losing his eye sight some two or three years ago.

He leaves a wife, one single daughter, Miss Nancie, and several married children, Mrs. J. A. Breeze of Carter, being one of his daughters.

The remains were brought back here for internment in the Carter cemetery on Friday evening. A number of other children and other relatives being here from a distance to attend the funeral. (Grubitz-Sav-Whinery funeral home)
