Ellen Mahalah Turner was born about 1880(based on age at death).
Ellen (24) married Hugh Faulkner (25) (born on July 30, 1879 in Surrey, England, United Kingdom) in 1905 in South Australia, Australia. Their son was Frank Hugh Faulkner (1908– )[1] and then lived in Albany until moving to the Porongorups in 1912. Ellen was often left alone to attend to the clearing of their heavily timbered property of jarrah and karri trees by ring barking and burning while Hugh went away to work to help keep his family of five children[2].
In 1912, Hugh and Ellen opened their home, Karri Bank, to paying guests. Visitors were able to stay in a very picturesque setting and visit the scenic spots of the Porongorup Range. Karri Bank became the most popular guest house in Western Australia and was well known throughout Australia[3].
Ellen died in 1958 in Mount Barker, Western Australia, Australia, aged about 78[4].
