Biography

Col. Seth Turner, Jr, the son of Seth Turner, Sr. and Sarah Shaw, was born 29 August 1727, Weymouth, Massachusetts, he died 29 January 1806, Randolph County, Massachusetts.^[1][2]

On 6 December 1750, Braintree, Norfolk, Massachusetts, Seth Turner married Rebecca Vinton, the daughter of Capt. Samuel Vinton and Elizabeth French.^[3][4]

He was an energetic, intelligent and useful man, "Yeoman"

Col. Seth Turner Jr, served in the "Old French War" and was at the taking of Quebec in 1759. He is called Lieut. in 1761.

Major Seth Turner Jr served with 5th Regiment, Suffolk County Militia, Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolution.

Seth Turner Jr is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A117210.

Served in War of the Revolution. He had a unit of 60 men from Braintree starting May 1775 to 1 January 1776. His brother-in-law Capt. John Vinton also had a company of 60 men from Braintree. June 1775, Capt. Turner's company was stationed for the protection of the inhabitants of Germantown. Col. Turner also commanded a regiment 1 January 1776 to 1 January 1777. After the War he had the command for several years of Massachusetts militia under the rank of Colonel. He was also Major, and Captain, Colonels Benjamin Lincoln, Thomas Marshall, Josiah Whitney, Ebenezer Thayer Thayer-4378 , Thomas Poor. ^[5]
