Samuel arrived at Port Phillip Bay on the ship "General Palmer" on the 10th of April 1849. He was aged 24 and accompanied by his wife Mary and their infant son Lewis. He was listed as a Blacksmith and destined to be employed by a Mr Raleigh in Melbourne.

Death of Spouse
Mary died at Richmond, Colony of Victoria in 1852. Parents names not listed on the death index, but her husband Samuel Thompson is. She was aged 28 at the time of her death. [5]
Samuel died at Essendon in Victoria in 1907 aged 82 . Parents not named on death index.[19] and was buried at the Melbourne General Cemetery[20]
