Biography

Sam Taylor is a part of US Black heritage.

Sam Taylor was born in 1857 in Texas. His parents are not yet known, and it is not known if he was born enslaved, but it is likely.

Sam married Fannie Sypho on 20 Nov 1879 in Falls County, Texas.^[1] Their children:

1. Grant Taylor (1880–Deceased)
2. Unknown Taylor

They later adopted:

1. Martha Taylor (1909–Deceased)
2. Thurman Dowdell (1912–Deceased)

The 1880 Census^[2] shows him at age 22 with his wife, one son, a sister-in-law, a brother-in-law, and a niece in Falls County, Texas.

The 1910 Census^[3] shows him at age 55 with his wife and a servant in Gatesville Township, Wagoner County, Oklahoma. He is a farmer. This census states that his wife is the mother of 2 children with 0 still living.

The 1920 Census^[4] shows him at age 62 with his wife and two adopted children in Gatesville Township, Wagoner County, Oklahoma. He is a farmer.

The 1930 Census^[5] shows him at age 73 with his wife and one adopted son in Gatesville Township, Wagoner County, Oklahoma. He is a farmer.

Sam died on 16 Jun 1939 in Wagoner County, Oklahoma.^[6]
