Eleanor first married Nathaniel "Nathan" Church about 1830-1852, thought to be in Vermont[2] It is not known when or where ... could be in Vermont or Illinois. No marriage record has been found (See Research Notes).

They were the parents of one child, Millie Frances (Church) Miller (abt.1852-1935) (aka Frances M. "Fannie" Squires).[2]

In 1860, "Elanor" (sic) Church (45) and Nathan (50) and their only child, Frances M Church (i.e. Millie Frances (Church) Miller (abt.1852-1935)) (8), were living in Concord, Bureau, Illinois (postal service through Buda). Nathan was working as a grain merchant.[1]

In 1870, "Ellenor" (sic) (57) and Nathan (60) were living in Little Rock, Kendall, Illinois (postal service from Plano, Kendall, Illinois). Also living in their home was Clara McGennis (26), who is shown without any reference as to relationship. Nathan was now shown as being a dry goods merchant. That same year, her future 2nd husband, Elijah Smith, was living with his wife, Sylvia, and their daughter, Sarah J Smith (23), in Somonauk, DeKalb, Illinois. Elijah. Elijah was already a retired farmer at this time.[3]

One year later, on 26 Apr 1871, Nathan died in Plano, Kendall, Illinois.[4]

On 16 Sep 1875, Mrs. "Elenor" (sic) Eleanor A Church married Elijah Smith in DeKalb County, Illinois.[5]

In 1880, "Ellener" (sic) (67) and Elijah (73) were living at 457 Third Street, in Sandwich, DeKalb, Illinois, USA. Elijah is referred to as a retired farmer. [6]
