Goal

The goal of this Team is to make all County profiles the best that they can be. It is our desire to leave a lasting legacy of work for future generations by sourcing, connecting and growing our County branches of the tree.

Angus Team To-do lists

When working with profiles of individuals associated with Angus:

  • Create new profiles after you've done your best to ensure it is not a duplicate.
    • If you discover it is a duplicate after its been created, initiate a merge into the lower-numbered profile.
  • Identify and merge any duplicates
    • Clean up after the merge to ensure the profile remains accurate and meets our Project Standards.
  • Work with other Teams if you find a profile that needs their attention.
  • Review existing profiles and help bring them up to Project Standard.
  • Add relevant categories and/or stickers to profiles, as appropriate. If you are unsure, contact the Categories Team for help.

Kia Ora from Aotearoa! I'm Alan MacKenzie. My genie searches have made me aware of the areas my ancestors once lived in. My sleuthing took me to the Mains of Dun, Maryton, Tigerton in Menmuir, Glenisla, Edzell, Dunnbarrow in Dunnichen, East Tarbax in Invararity, Rescobie, and Liff & Benvie. So I believe it is safe to assume my ancestry hails from Angus County, mainly (nee Forfarshire). I've never had the opportunity to visit Scotland and always wanted to learn as much about the geography, the countryside, the culture, the notables (people) and the biographic history of Angus County. Especially those locales previously mentioned. Does this sound logical?

So I'm wondering, how could a body get involved in researching these specific areas from afar? Are there URL's of certain Historical Societies offering books, literature and summaries of the county's finest? I'm also not very Wiki savvy (I wouldn't know how to begin editing a Wikipage). Could I send what I might discover to someone on the Team via email? Or how about if I were to upload anything I discover to DropBox and grant someone on the Team access to that particular folder? Am I making any sense at all? Any response would be welcomed.
