Biography

John Breingan was born on the 23 October 1886, possibly at Izatt Street, in the Town of Alloa, on the north bank of the Forth at the spot where some say it ceases to be the River Forth and becomes the Firth of Forth, District of Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland^[1]. He was the natural born son of Robert Smith and Agnes Breckenridge.

Robert and Agnes engage in an affair around 1883, while living with her mother Margaret (Murdoch), who was married to Robert at the time^[4]. In the Census of 1901, Agnes has lost "husband" Robert (Smith) and has married James (Carr). The couple live with his daughter Ann "Annie" (Carr); her children Agnes, John Breingan and Mary (Smith) and their son, Richard (Carr). Their address is 17 Coalgate, in the Town of Alloa, Alloa District, Clackmannanshire, Scotland^[5].
