Biography

Joseph Pearson Smith was born in Aug. 1912 to James and Agnes (Jeannie Moir) Smith). His father passed away in Nov. 1912 after a threshing accident. His mother married Joseph Pearson in 1914. He was raised on the family farm along with his brother Jim, step-brother John and step-sisters Jean, Jessie and Janet. In 1945 he married Elfrieda Stuike of the Jansen area. They farmed for a short time before moving to Manitoba and then later to Armstrong, B.C. They had six children: Wallace, Rodney, Stanley, Kathleen, Reginald and Bonnie. All their children were home for their 40th anniversary in 1985. Joe passed away in 2000.
