Biography

Garfield, born in 1881 at sea off China,^[1][2] was the son of Joshua Slocum and Virginia Walker.

In 1920 he was a stockkeeper at General Electric^[3] in Schenectady, New York. He and his wife Grace had four children at that time.^[4] By 1930 he was working as a bookkeeper.^[5]

Survived by his wife, the former Grace Davison, and two sons, Arthur and Winston, and a daughter, Mrs Russell Miller and several grandchildren and great grandchildren..
