Hello Al,

I noticed that you're working on pre-1700-era profiles. This is just a reminder that certifying to work on these types of profiles means that you agree to add valid sources as outlined in the Pre-1700 Certification Quiz.

For pre-1700 profiles, we require more rigorous sources. (See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources and https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Reliable_Sources_for_Pre-1700_Profiles.) Those sources must be added at the time that you create the profile.

Also: I see you're citing a generic website, without link to the actual person. Unfortunately, that's not sufficient per Wikitree protocol. See: "census 1861,71,81,91" on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Henry-11911; and "reid/condie tribalpages" on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Reid-20421.

There's a browser plug-in that I'm really enjoying, called Sourcer. It will automate finding sources and pasting them in. It can even “write” the biography based on the sources; all you do is copy and paste. See the video at: https://youtu.be/_JssleDA5GQ and the text at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:WikiTree_Sourcer. This has been a real game-changer for me. I hope you will try it.

If you need help with this, our G2G Forum is a great place to start. You can get there by clicking the link on the Help menu.

Thanks! Deb

Hi al

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand this Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.

Hi AL

How is it going so far. were the How-Tos pages helpful or did they leave you with questions? Questions ask in our G2G forum Click Here

Clicking your green tags shows members who follow that tag. Add tags other family surnames, for locations add two tags SCOTLAND & CANADA The tags link you to the projects, community sourcing & research options.

We want to help you learn about the site and the community, hopefully you found the pages and links useful. Check out our Videos Click Here

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree click in the comment box in your profile

Hi Al,

Thanks for volunteering! You are now a full member of the WikiTree community, and can start adding your family. Let me know if you have any questions.

Since WikiTree is different from other genealogy sites, we have a guided tour for new members at New Member How-To. Feel free to work through the How-Tos at your own pace.

Once you add profiles to WikiTree they become searchable and in my experience persons interested in these profiles will contact you and may provide further information to expand your family tree.

Great to have you on board, enjoy, and good luck growing your branches.

Ludwig :)

PS If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section of your profile page.
