Biography

From his age at death of 68, Philip's birth date has 1758. He inherited property in 1784 along with his brothers: Henry Janes, John Janes and George Janes: 133 yds. from E. to W. bounded on the E. by Francis Rumsey on the W. by Simon Grow 197 yds. from H.W.M. to the Northward bounded on the N. by the Commons 1 Stage 2 Flakes 8 Houses 8 Gardens 1 Meadow. While it was a deed of gift from their father, their mother was likely allowed to live on the plantation until her death and then it would go to the children, which happened in 1784. The property was divided among the brothers. When Philip took out a loan (indenture) in 1807 his property is described as" Bounded east by Charles Rumsey, west by Henry Janes, North woods, south sea."
