Biography

Margaret Ann Grim was born on April 9, 1825 in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, daughter of Jacob Grim (1791–1862) and Mary Bollinger (1798–1862).

In the 1850 census Betsy (age 22) was in Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland, United States.[1]

Elizabeth married Peter Hoover (born on October 29, 1823 in Baltimore Maryland; son of Henry Hoover and Susannah (Dubbs) Hoover). Their son was Daniel Howard Hoover (1863–1939).

In the 1870 census Elizth (age 36) was in Baltimore, Maryland, United States.[2]

In 1880, Elizabeth Hoover (51), was a wife, Keeping House, in the household of Peter Hoover (56) in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. [3]

In 1900, Elizabeth Hoover (72), was a wife, in the household of Peter Hoover in District 5 Election District, Baltimore, Maryland, United States. [4]

Elizabeth died on March 26, 1910 in Whitehouse, Baltimore, aged 84. She was buried in Saint Abraham's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Beckleysville, Baltimore County, Maryland.[5] [6]

Research Notes

Her memorial and death certificate put her birth date in 1825. Census records show that she may have been born around 1828.[1][3][4]

The family surname Grimm and Grim seem to be the very same family other than using a shorter name and dropping an m in a later date for the ancestors. The gravemarkers are usually Grimm for the ancestors. This is not so unusual I've found, the same with their relatives Hoover changing from Hover.

The surname Grimm and Grim in this same family were interchanged depending on the generation. The same with Hoover their descendants and Hover. So in effect, they used both surnames depending on the age or era.
