Biography

Fielding was born about 1813 to 1816. He is the son of William Green.

Fielding was one of William’s children who was mentioned in William’s mother’s Will written in 1816 and probated in 1824:

I also will to have my negro boy Bryant sold at my decease and the value of him equally divided into four shares one share to Fielding one share to Polly one share to Betsey & one share to Frankey who are my Grandchildren, and children to my son William Green

Fielding Green married Eliz Moore on 22 May 1845 in Bath, Kentucky, USA.^[1]

They had three known children who survived to adulthood, and a fourth unknown child who died young:

“Midland City …Your correspondent visited Uncle Fielding Green last week and found everything happy and prosperous. Aunt Betsy, his wife, has been laid up all spring with a sore foot, though she is able to go to the garden and do some work now, which she enjoys very much. Uncle Fielding is 79 years of age; Aunt Betsy is 74. She is a daughter of Uncle Billy Moore, deceased. They have been married 51 years and the only marriage of either of them. They had four children born to them, to-wit: Mrs. Malvina Ragland, the widow of James Ragland; one child died when small; Mrs. Clarna Cassity, with whom they live; and son John Green. Aunt Betsy showed me a coverlet that her mother wore before she was married, so you can make a calculation how old the coverlet is.” ^[3]

“Death of Aged Citizen. Owingsville, Ky., Oct. 18.- [Special] - Fielding Greene, aged ninety-two years, the second oldest man in the county, is dead of general debility. He was formerly very wealthy.” ^[4]

“Fielding Greene, aged 92, the second oldest man in Bath county, is dead of general debility. He was formerly very wealthy.”^[5]

“Aged Man Dead. Fielding Green, aged ninety-two years, the second oldest man in this county, is dead of old age. Mr. Green was formerly one of the wealthiest men in this section, but had met with reverses. He and his family were widely known socially. His wife and one son survive.”^[6]
