Biography

My family was involved in California agriculture. I studied fruit production and worked most of my life farming and advising other farmers. Today I'm retired and living in Arizona.

Robert, I just found an obit for Nancy Compton Willeford that proves she is not the mother of Sam Williford-934. It is from the Pulaski Citizen, Pulaski, TN, Thursday, July 25, 1878, Page 3 (newspaper.com).

"Mrs. Nancy Willeford, widow of the late Hardy Willeford, Esq, and stepmother to our friend Sam".

Thank you so much for the suggestions re Benjamin C. Chase. Appreciate the input. I have ignored him for a year or two, since there seemed to be more Chases than I could labor through on trees. I just waded back in today for him specifically noting that where I posted about him did not have a mom and dad for one of my kin. Also, an update per Google that the Chase site was up and functioning yesterday had me putting right along to see what, if anything had happened. I think I have him tracked back to a William and a William but absolutely nothing for sure other than the Spalding data that I trust. Again, really appreciate your time and suggestions. It was fascinating how Benjamin turned up to be a connection to a tree of people I didn't have a clue about. Sort of fun discovery.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
