On 2 April 1790, presumably at the age of 16, he married Anne Hartley. They were married in Rowan County, North Carolina [4][5][6]
His tombstone reads: "First Greene Family in Hancock County TN", The back of his gravestone lists the names of children and their spouses. The children of Jeremiah and Anne are [2][1]:
William (b1791) m. Ruth Slaton, the daughter of Captain John and Mary Slaton
John (b.1793) m. Orpha Slaton, another daughter of Captain John Slaton and moved to Ketucky [7]
Family stories say that there was at least one set of twins in the family and that the Greenes were all "large" (heavy-set) people [2]
Jeremiah died around 1820 near Duck Creek, Tennessee and is buried on his farm there [1].
Research Notes
The ten children of Jeremiah Greene included in this biography are fairly certain. I have dismissed the names of 13 other potential chidren found on FamilySearch.org due to lack of documented proof. on 9 Jul 2021, Travis Collins added Rebecca (Green) Valentine (b.1794) as a potential child in the gap 1793-1796,
It is possible (no proof yet) that Lewis (or Louis) Greene married Nancy Morgan and served in the Army during the war of 1812 [8]. This Lewis may have been born in the 1793-1796 childless gap.
There were two sources included in the original profile that Adams commented seemed to be on the wrong profile -- It is about Lambert Woodward. However, while scanning the source, I thought I saw something about Jeremiah Greene, so I have left the references here to researchh later: 1. The Burroughs Family,[9] and 2. this one
