Biography

Mary was born in 1856. She was the daughter of John Dollar and Mary Nelson. Her family lived in Meriwether County, Georgia. Her father was named a legatee in the final settlement of his father's estate in July of 1856. Her parents moved the family to Tallapoosa County, Alabama.

War came to the South and to Alabama in April of 1861. Mary had two brothers, John Henry and Joseph T. They both enlisted in the 34th Alabama Infantry and they went off to war.

Later in 1864 another of her brothers, William Elijah, enlisted in the Alabama Reserves that later became the 63rd Alabama Infantry and he was also off to war.

After the war Mary moved to White County, Arkansas.

Mary was married to Thomas H. Allen on 5-Nov.-1879 in White Co. Arkansas. Mary and Thomas lived on the farm. They were living in Big Creek Township in White County in 1900. She had 4 children and 3 were living.

Mary and Thomas had the following known children:

1. Othho b. 1881
2. Arthur b. 1888
3. Ora b. 1894

She passed away in 1935.
