Harry Dewar was born in Scotland.

Henry "Harry" was born in Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom about 1877. He is the son of Henry Dewar of Scotland, and Jane MacDonald of Scotland.

Harry married Violet Brown on 8 December 1920 in Drake, Saskatchewan . They farmed near Drake and had nine children: Harry, Walter, Reginald, Jean, Mary, Connie, Beatrice, Sunny and Marjorie.

He served in WWI with the Regina Rifle Regiment. Harry served in the CEF, Canada in the 8th Battalion as a Cpl.; enlisting on Sep. 26th, 1914. He was described as: 5'7", dark complexion, brown eyes and black hair. He had a scar on his left forearm. His faith was Baptist.[1] In World War II he served in the Army medical corps.

He passed away at 73 yrs. old in Veteran's Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. (Saanich, Capital Regional District, British Columbia, Canada). He had lived in Victoria for 3 yrs., the province for 20 yrs. and in Canada for 60 yrs. Henry had worked as a male nurse. He was separated from his wife: Violet Brown. The informant on the death record was his sister.[2] Harry was mentioned on a memorial in Veterans Cemetery, Victoria, Capital Regional District, British Columbia, Canada with a death date of 23 Apr 1960.[3]
