Biography

Hyppolite Després was baptized on 2 Apr 1855 in Cocagne, New Brunswick, the son of François Xavier Després and Anne Melanson.^[1][2] His godparents were Pierre LeBlanc and Osite Caissie.

In the 1861 census Polite (age 6) was in Dundas, Kent, New Brunswick.^[3]

In the 1871 census Hippolite (age 14) was in Dundas, Kent, New Brunswick.^[4]

Hyppolite married Domitille LeBlanc, daughter of Joseph LeBlanc and Marie Cormier, on 6 May 1878 in Cocagne.^[5] Their children were:

In the 1921 census Hypolite, age 68, was the head of household in Shediac (Parish), Westmorland, New Brunswick.^[7]

He died on 10 Nov 1930 in Shediac.^[8]

Research Notes

His age noted in the parish register was 3 years, however, census records indicate he was born about 1855 and list him after his brother Bernadin so this may be an error in the record. His death record gives his date of birth as 14 Apr 1852. Fremmerlid-1 05:28, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
