Tom Dawson is a part of US Black heritage.
Tom was born circa 1760, likely in Dobbs County, North Carolina.
He was enslaved in chattel bondage by William Dawson Sr..
In both Dawson's will and in the 19 August 1803 inventory of Dawson's estate, Tom is described as a negro man. William Dawson, Sr. bequeathed Tom on loan for five years to his daughters, Clarkey Dawson and Penny Dawson[1][2]
