This profile is a collaborative work-in-progress. Can you contribute information or sources? Recent research availability/merges have helped to solidify some of the mis-information; Researchers are encouraged to reverify (and add source) information; making adjustments to profiles as necessary.

An Effort has been made to update/split individual information from the Contemporary Profiles frequently containing co-mingled data on the various "Joseph's, Richards, etc., (see individual profiles for more detailed information)

  • Unfortunately, many early Virginia records were destroyed during the Revolutionary and Civil Wars so it is difficult to locate birth, marriage and death records. As a result, no one can state with certainty who the Collins ancestors were of John Collins II of Maidstone. (That said, one is left to rely on wills, books, manuscripts, family histories and publications which there are many --- each with conflicting information.

Profiles suffer an array of issues, which may never be resolved, unless new records are uncovered.
