WOMEN IN FOOTBALL Keen West Supporter No. 3 - Mrs Rachel Amos.
Amongst the most energetic and popular of the many women supporters of West Adelaide Football club is Mrs Rachel Amos. In an unassuming manner she has been to the fore in any activities of benefit to players, and in the interests of the club.
Mrs Amos has been a prominent worker in all social affairs for many years. When the women's social committee was in exsistence, she was an enthusiastic member.
Mrs Amos can look back at least 20 years in her association with West, during which time she has hardly missed a match.
She has three sons, two of whom George and Arthur, played with Sturt Street School team when that combination was champion of State Schools. Mr J Amos the other son was a committeeman of West B for five years.
Mrs Amos has been ably assisted by her two daughters Mesdames M Jarvis (wife of the West follower) and W Smith.
Since the war Mrs Amos has become more closely associated with West. She takes a keen personal interest in the players, several of whom have stayed at her home. She lives at Byron Place, Adelaide. [3]
