According to Gladys Brown's daughter, "My mother, born in Aurora on April 22nd, 1892, daughter of William John Brown and Elizabeth Ann McKee. Gladys had one sister Marjorie. Marjorie was two years younger than Gladys. Gladys married Henry Charles Thayer, usually known as Harry. Mother had reddish brown hair, brown eyes, well built and 5' 10" tall. Because she was a descendant of the fiery bad-tempered Irish McKees, she was a little bad tempered herself. She had a wonderful sense of humour. Mother married Dad and they moved to Sutton, into Holborn's house on River Street, they lived there for six months, Mother said it was the coldest house she had ever lived in. While living in the rented Holborn house they designed and built a nice cottage on Dalton Road across from the now public school and next door to the north of the Presbyterian church. The house was one story high, a great front veranda and always seemed to be painted cream or yellow. There have always been great flower beds, growing mostly dahlias. Dad bought Mom a lovely new Model T Ford car, Mom backed her nice new car over a drunk who was sitting on the curb, almost killing him." Written by Eleanor Elizabeth Thayer at her house 161 Lake Drive North, Keswick, Ontario. 22 February 1994
