Family records including the family bible that Pascal R. Brown owned. Federal census records and family lore. Pascal has three grandchildren or great-grandchildren who bear the middle name of Reese. We can assume they acquired their middle name from their grandfather or great-grandfather Pascal R. Brown. In addition, we have DNA matches with a Rhoda 'Reese' Brown family of Bedford, Virginia. We can assume that ‘Reese’ and not the earlier spelling of 'Reis' is Pascal's correct middle name and spelling. Furthermore, the name Reis is of Germanic origins and Pascal was not of Germanic origins. I have never found documents in my many years of research that show the spelling of 'Reis' or 'Reese' for Pascal's middle name. It only shows the letter ‘R’. However, based on the circumstantial evidence we can assume that 'Reese' is the correct spelling. More research is needed.
Family records show Pascal passing away in March of 1897. A recent discovery of a deed from Todd County, Kentucky signed by Pascal R. and his wife Charolette H. Brown in April of 1896. In this deed he is giving a large tract of land to his youngest son James Edmond Brown. Pascal would have been 79 in 1896 when this deed was signed.
