MRS. THOMAS FOREMAN
Sincere regret was expressed by her numerous friends on learning of the death of another of Ipswich's oldest residents in the person of Mrs. Thomas Foreman (relict of the late Lieut. Thos. Foreman, who passed quietly away at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. J. H.Donald, of Flint-street, on Wednesday evening last.
Mrs. Foreman, who was 83 years of age, accompanied her husband (since deceased) to Moreton Bay from Cambridge, England, on the 25th of August, 1854, in the sailing ship General Hewitt, landing at Brisbane on the following 24th of December, approaching 63 years ago.
They immediately came on to Ipswich, of which city the deceased has been a continuous resident ever since. Her husband died on the 19th of August, 1909, almost eight years ago. Mrs. Foreman, who was of a homely disposition, leaves a family of five daughters and three sons to mourn her loss.
She was interested in the work of St. Thomas's Anglican Church, North Ipswich, and was a most consistent member of the Royal Society of St. George.
Her funeral, which took place yesterday afternoon, was largely attended, thus testifying to the esteem in which she was held.
Ald. O. Perry, president of the local Royal Society of St. George, was present, as were also Messrs. J. W. Berry, Geo. R. Lewis, and H. C. Howes, representatives of the same society. Bro. Walter Watson, of the Rose of Queensland, M.U.I.O.O.F., acted as one of the pall bearers, among whom were representatives of the railway break-down gang, of which Mr. A. G. Foreman is in charge.
On arrival at the graveside the funeral service was conducted by Mr. R. Bird, catechist of St. Thomas's Church, North Ipswich.
