Biography

Aileen was born in 1899. She was the daughter of Margaret and Henry Harold Batchelor. She passed away in 1983. She was cremated at Springvale Botanical Cemetery in Springvale, Greater Dandenong City, Victoria, Australia.^[1]

Wanganui Chronicle 8 September 1923 ^[2]

A very pretty wedding was solemnized at St. Barnabas Church, Stoke, by the Rev. Austin, chaplain of the Wanganui College, on August 28th, when Miss Eileen Batchelor, daughter of Mr H. Batchelor, Nelson, was married to Mr J. Sutcliffe, of Wanganui College. The bride wore a lovely frock of silver tissue, draped over white charmaute, and a tulle veil over a coronet of orange blossoms. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Sutcliffe (the bridegroom’s sister), who wore tangarine morocain with short transparent sleeves, and Miss Violet Izard, who wore mauve morocain with short sleeves of chiffon. Each bridesmaid carried a Victorian bouquet of violets veiled with tulle. The bridegroom was attended by Mr R. A. Stedman as best man, and Mr Phil Harkness acted as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride’s aunt, Mrs C. H. Harley, Milton St. Mrs Rankin, of Motueka, another aunt of the bride, acted as hostess.
