William Atkinson served in the United States Civil War. Enlisted: April 21, 1862 Mustered out: mm dd, yyyy Side: CSA Regiment(s): Company H, Second Alabama Infantry
On 03 Aug 1843, he married Ursula Eugenia Griffith in Randolph County, Georgia.[1][2] He was living in Randolph County, Georgia in 1850 with wife and 2 kids (Catherine and Ronomia) and brother-in-law, James Griffith. His occupation was listed as cord winder (mechanic?). [3] By 1860, they had moved to Dale County, Alabama. The following children were in the home: Cornelius, Thomas, Roxie, Charles, James and Ursula.[4]
William served as a Private in the Company H, Second Alabama Infantry in the Civil War. He enlisted on April 21, 1862. He died from illness in 1864 during the Civil War.[5] It is not known where he was buried.
William was mentioned in the death record of his son, Cornelius, in 1931, although his middle name was incorrectly spelled Mallery, instead of Maldree.[6]
