Hans Andersson in Gävebo and his wife Brita Knutsdotter appeared in the district court 10 February 1610, in order to ratify a mutual agreement, stating that they each gifted the other full possession of all their property, real estate, goods and chattels. If whoever survived the other should marry again, the heirs of the deceased were to be paid 3 ships pound of bar iron each and have no other share in the estate. From the proceedings it is clear that the first settler in Gävebo was Brita's late husband, but that Hans and Brita have spent "many a weary hour" building up the homestead.[1]
In 1611 Hans in Gävebo shared the use of one of the blast furnaces in Darsbo with Lasse iin Björkeviken, Marcus in Sund and Erik Knutsson(?)[2]
In the taxation for Älvsborgs lösen (the ransom of Älvsborg fortress) in 1616 Hans Andersson and his wife are listed for the single household in Gävebo.[3] In 1618 it is noted that the woman is lame.[4]
In January 1636 the wife of Hans in Gävebo died; she was buried the 17th.[5]
30 October the same year Hans in Gävebo was married to Elisabeth Michelsdotter from Färnebo parish.[6] Their daughter Brita was born in March 1639.[7]
Hans in Gävebo stands as head of the household for the last time in 1655[8] - but he himself has not been taxed since 1650.
