Biography
Robert Anderson, son of mariner Christopher Anderson and his wife, Hannah Haggitt, was baptised at Kilham in the East Riding of Yorkshire on the 1st of June 1822. [1]
On the 4th of November 1848 at Folkton in the North Riding of Yorkshire he married Jane Danby, daughter of Richard Danby and his wife, Jane Lamplugh. [2]
In 1851 he was farming 335 acres at Butterwick. [3]
At the 1871 Census Robert was farming 750 acres at Swan Hill, Hutton Buscel, employing 11 people in the house and on the farm. His shepherd was Robert Grice. [4]
