Martha was the daughter of Thomas and Alice Allen. She was christened at Great Budworth Church, Cheshire on the 24th June 1810. [1][2]
She married John Haslehurst at Manchester Cathedral in Lancashire on 12th December 1829.[3]
In 1841 the couple were living in Antrobus, Cheshire. John was employed as an Agricultural Labourer and the couple had five children; Anne, Thomas, John, Allen and William.[4][5]
By 1851 the family were living in Nook Lane, Antrobus. John was described as a 47 year old Cottage Farm Labourer and Martha was 40. Some of the children had left home but those still living with their parents were John, a Farm Servant aged 15, William an 11 year old Errand Boy, Mary aged 9 and Daniel aged 6, both described as Scholars. [6][7]
The family were living at Bye Lane in Antrobus in 1861. John's occupation was described as Agricultural Labourer and just 2 of their children were living with their parents. 19 year old Mary was a Dressmaker and 7 year old Henry was a Scholar.[8]' [9]
John and Martha were living at Pools Platt, Antrobus in 1871. At the age of 67 John was still working as an [10] and all the children had now left home. [11]
Martha died in Antrobus in 1879 [12][13][14] and was buried in St Mark's graveyard in the village on 6th April,1879.'[15][16]
