John married Margaret Speir (born on November 20, 1764 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland; daughter of Robert Speir and Jean (Stewart) Speir).[2] Their son was Robert James Wilson (1787–1845).
John died on September 17, 1839 in Saratoga County, New York, United States, aged 86. He was buried in Hubbell Cemetery, Ballston Spa.[1]
