Biography

The Birth Date is a rough estimate. See the text for details.

Reineke Wilken was born between 2 January 1546 and 31 December 1570 most likely in Bersenbrück parish in the Prince-Bishopric of Osnabrück in the Holy Roman Empire.

In 1588 Reineke Wilken married Lucken Hollenkamp.[1] For the right to take over farm operations in Tien Wilken Kotte tho Bokell, Reineke Wilken paid 80 Thaler according to documents related to the landlordship of the monastery in Bersenbrück:

This farm was the Leibzucht building of Prießhoffs farm, that Tien Wilcke and his wife Enneke von deß Roden Erbe had bought:[1]

Diese Kotte ist Prießhoffs Lyfftuchts hauß geWesen, Vnd haben selbiges an sich geKaufft Tien Wilcke Vnd Enneke Von deß Roden Erbe, ist an dise Kote Kein herren Dienst, horet Woll 2 Moltsaedt landes Zu, Vnd Wirtt.

Anno 1571 Jharlich vff einen halben thlr Vnd 1 par honer gesetzet.[1]

For 1589 the monastery record show the following entry:[1]

In other words, in 1589 Tien Wilcke's son Johan was bought free for 10 thaler and moved to the hamlet of Grovern in Ankum. No other siblings were left on the farm; only Reineken and Lucke had two children, Wilcke and Enneke.

In 1626, their daughter Enneke passed away, and the landlord received 20 thaler for the estate, with two children remaining. [1]

Later in 1626 the monastery records show the following entry:

This suggests that the farm operation passed from Reineke to their son Wilke who had married Anneken, the daughter of Herman Rollfs.
