Wies-2 and Weiss-1240 appear to represent the same person because: I found these two profiles by working my way backward in time from some profiles for Palatine German migrants who settled in New York in the 1700s. Both of these men are set as the grandfather of Anna Catherina Weis(s), who married Johann Valentin Kuhn. More immediately, both are father to Melchior Weiss.
We need to merge the redundant family trees. The differences in spelling (attributable to the typical spelling variation as well as the German practice of dual first names) and dates (none of these profiles is well-supported, and it's likely that at least some of the dates are guesses) should not prevent merging. If resources can't be found to fix the details, make note of the conflicting details in the text section of the merged profile.
This is the earliest generation that needs merging; the later generations currently have conflicting parents, so to preserve the relationship data, their merges should wait until this one is taken care of.
