Eliza (Walker) Crump is Notable.

Mary Eliza Walker was an African-American contralto singer and manager, one of the original Fisk Jubilee Singers.[1][2]

Mary Eliza Walker was born into slavery in Tennessee 1857. She is quoted in an 1873 publication:

"I was born six miles from Nashville at Flatrock in 1857. My mother belonged to Wesley Greenfield and my father to John W. Walker of Nashville[3]. There were eight children, — two boys and six girls. I was next to the youngest. My mistress held only two or three slaves besides our family. She finally set my mother free and gave her the three youngest children. After the war my father kept an ice-house and made money enough to buy us a little home; but there was some trouble about the lease, and we lost the house. In 1866 I commenced attending Fisk School, and continued there as much of the time as I was able till 1870," [4].

She married fellow Jubilee Singer Thomas H Crump in 1880[5]. They are enumerated in the 1880 Census in the household of Granville Crump (her father-in-law) at Grainger, Tennessee [6]. In 1900 they were living in the South Town precinct of Chicago [7]. She passed away in 1928.
