Biography

"On 6 Jul 1826 a bond was issued for John's intended marriage to Mary Ann Walker, daughter of Henry Walker, who signed as security on the bond. Everyone called her "Polly". They were living on land along the Kentucky river, although they did not own it. Uncles Moses owned 100 acres on the river and it's possible they were living on his land."

"On 1 Sep 1831, Polly's parents sold their land on Elk Lick in Fayette County, Kentucky, and that fall John, Polly, her parents, and some of her siblings packed their belongings and moved west to Clay County, Missouri. They joined a wagon train, if not in Lexington, then certainly as they left St. Louis. In November 1835, John Snow bought 2 forty acre parcels of land from the government in Clay County. Later, when sold, these 2 parcels of land would be listed as being in Clinton County."

"John died at age 62 yrs on 22 Feb 1866 in Clinton County, Missouri of unknown cause, and was buried in the McDaniel Cemetery, located just on the eastern edge of Cameron across the county line in Caldwell County. He was buried next to his daughters, Mary Jane age 2, and Caroline age 7. A year later, Polly turned over administration of his estate to Moses Joiner. She moved about 1882, with her son, James Jacob & his family, to Caldwell, Sumner County, Kansas. She died there 09 Aug 1884 and was buried in the Caldwell Cemetery. John and Mary Ann "Polly" Snow were the parents of eleven children, of whom nine lived to adulthood." ^[1]
