MARRIAGE (Mar 1872). GREGORY—TOPP.—On the 16th inst., at Trinity Church, East Melbourne, by the Rev. H. O. Watson, John Burslem Gregory, barrister-at-law, to Alice, only daughter of Samuel Topp, both of this city.

DEATH (1935). GREGORY -On the 19th December, at her home Rosedale, 158 Inkerman street, St Kilda, Alice widow of the late J. B. Gregory, barrister-at-law (Melbourne University), only daughter of the late S. S. Topp, mother of Ada (deceased), Ned, Jack, Harry (deceased), Edith, Charlie (deceased), and Mark (deceased), aged 93 years and eleven months.
OBITUARY. Mrs. J. B. Gregory, who died at her home, Rosedale, Inkerman street, St. Kilda, on December 19, in her 94th year, was brought to Melbourne in 1849 (sic, actually 1858) in the ship Royal Charter by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Topp, and was accompanied by her brothers, Horatio, Arthur, St. John (sic, St John didn't arrive until 1861), and Charles, who later made their mark in Melbourne.
Mrs. Gregory was married in 1872, her husband, the late Mr. John Burslem Gregory, being a barrister, a lecturer at the University, and also registrar of friendly societies.
There were seven children, of whom three survive, namely, George Fred, John Stephen, and Edith.
Both Mrs. Gregory and her husband were among the earliest members of the Shakespeare Society, and took a great interest in literary and library questions. Mrs. Gregory had occupied the same house in St. Kilda for 55 years, and was a parishioner of All Saints' Church all that time.
